Sell at the counter with the point of sale
Open a register, ring up sales by tapping or scanning, take cash or card, print a receipt and balance the drawer at closing.
Updated October 26, 2026
The point of sale is a counter screen for quick sales. Every sale becomes a paid invoice, so stock, core charges, sales tax and your books update on their own.
Switch it on
It's on for retail, repair shop and auto parts businesses. For any other business, switch on Point of sale in Settings → Business type & modules. Then click Point of sale in the menu. It works on a laptop or a tablet.
Open the register
Count the cash in the drawer and enter it as Cash in the drawer, then click Open register. A business with more than one till can open several registers, each with its own name.
Make a sale
- Tap a product, or type to search. A barcode scanner works too: scan into the search box and the product is added. Products match on their barcode or SKU.
- Change quantities with + and −.
- Leave the customer as Walk-in customer, or pick a customer to use their prices and to see any outstanding cores.
- Parts with a core charge add a Core charge line. Tick Old part returned now if they brought the old one.
- Click Charge.
Take payment
- Cash: tap Exact or the amount handed over, and Ledgri shows the change.
- Debit or Credit: take the payment on your card terminal, then tap Debit or Credit.
- Split payments: type part of the total, tap a method, then pay the rest another way.
Cash goes to Cash on hand. Card payments go to Undeposited funds until the card company pays you, and you move them to your bank when the deposit arrives.
Receipts
After the sale, click Print receipt for a narrow till receipt, or enter an email address and click Send. Past sales are under Sales at the top of the screen.
Returns
Click Sales, open the sale, and create a credit note from it. Refund the customer from the credit note.
Close the register
At the end of the day, click Close register. Ledgri shows the sales by payment type and the cash expected in the drawer. Count the drawer, enter the amount and click Close register. If it's over or short, the difference is booked to Cash over and short so your books match the drawer.
