Refunds and credit notes

Correct an invoice, give a customer credit, or refund their money.

Updated October 26, 2026

A credit note reduces what a customer owes. Use it for returns, discounts after the fact, or mistakes on an approved invoice.

Create a credit note

  1. Open the invoice and click Credit note. Ledgri copies its lines into a draft.
  2. Keep only what you're crediting and adjust the amounts.
  3. Click Approve credit note. The sale and its sales tax are reversed in your books.

Use the credit

  • Apply to invoice: take it off this or another unpaid invoice for the same customer.
  • Refund: if you're giving money back, record the refund and the account it came from.
  • Or leave it on the customer's account to use on their next invoice.

Voiding instead? If an invoice was sent by mistake and never paid, you can void it rather than crediting it. Open it, choose Void this invoice and give a reason.
