Your chart of accounts
The list of accounts your books use, and how to add or retire one.
Updated October 26, 2026
The chart of accounts lists every account in your books: bank accounts, what customers owe you, sales, expenses and so on. Ledgri sets one up for you when you create your books, matched to your country and business type.
Add an account
Click Add account, then enter a Code, a Name, the Type (asset, liability, equity, income or expense) and the Detail type. Most businesses rarely need new accounts; ask your accountant if you're unsure.
System accounts
Some accounts are marked System account, such as Accounts receivable or Sales tax payable. Ledgri uses them automatically, so they can't be deleted.
Retire an account
Edit it and untick Active. Its history stays in your reports, but it no longer appears in lists.
